I want my lab back. But i dont want a radiation bath. Im trying to focus, the display in my eye for my nanoskin is going haywire. I cant seem to adjust the skin and make myself blend in tonight.

I look longingly at the powerplant from the distance. I still have my old access cards. I am still listed on the plants personel rosters as a nuclear engineer with level 5 clearance. But i dont match my picture tonight. My white eyes and grey, colorless skin make me look like a manakin.

I can only do so much with the makeshift lab in Rahshids factory. My equipment is all still in the belly of the power plant... I just need a plan to get it all back...

With a car like this, you'd expect anyone but her to step out of it. Spoilers, random neon lights, and a giant Hello Kitty decal on the hood make this hot pink Nissan Z look like the utter rice mobile. Its modified muffler roars as the car screams to a stop.

Mal parks near the power plant and takes a look around. She thought this was where Pelayo had his lab, but it looks pretty dead in here.

She calls out. "Pe-LAAAA-yo! You around here? Come out here before I mount a motion sensitive laser turret to the d-OO-oor!"

The open areas around the powerplant are the perfect place to go to brood. Im not the woodsy type, but i do play golf.

Noone misses a car like that. Screaming my name in front of the powerplant and looking like she belongs in sci-fi porn will probably get the guards attention real quick...

Unless i can get her attention first. I drop another ball into the grass and pull out my 4 iron...

Like i said, Noone missed a car like that; and neither did I.

As Malaclypse yells an orange golf ball pings off the hood off her suped up piece of ridiculousness.

"Aahh no, my baby!" she shrieks, running over to check if the golf ball made a dent. Getting real close to the hood, she rubs at the spot where it hit with her sleeve.

How she runs in platform boots that high is a mystery.

She looks around to try to find who could possibly be out golfing out here. She has her suspicions, but...

When Mal gets close she will easily see i am not what she remembers. I was a nano-tech obsessed surgeon with a horribly scarred half face last time she saw me. Now im a malfunctioning, grey skinned, white eyed weirdo. But for once im not naked, i have cargo pants and a jacket with many many pockets. I have lots of gadgets to carry.

Luckily my voice hasnt changed, or my sense of humor.

'Looks like someone graffitied it with Hello Kitty crap.'

I say, dropping another ball, still looking at her car...

"Whoah, buddy, I think your...errr...skin's malfunctioning? What the hell, dude?"

She grins at the familiar sound of his voice and runs up and hugs him before he can take a swing at the ball.

"Well, dude, if spies from the future come looking for me, they'll NEVER think that's my car!"

(Yarg, switching to 3rd person. Found the perfect picture for a Pelayo login though, so i might switch back...)

Pelayo isnt really the touchy feely type, so he half panics and then returns the hugged greeting.

'Hmm, its like reverse psychology. Drive the weirdest car you can find because noone whos hiding out should be that blatant?'

He tries to understand her reasoning, and doesnt even question spies from the future...

'I dont know whats happening to me. Remember that re-skinning process ive been working on for like... 10 years now? Well it finally worked. But i lost my lab in the process so i havent been able to really maintain it...'

He touches a finger to a small circle on his temple. The skin flashes a dull red for a second before going nuetral grey again. Little black lines like viens creep all through the almost metallic surface...

She looks concerned at Pelayo's next set of news.

"Well shit, what happened to your lab? I can help you get it back if it's fixable. And then we can work on your skin, no problem!"

'We were invaded by some techie virus that made everything go haywire. I dont know if you ever met Draconis but he was doing some weird, high energy particle physics stuff and now the lab is basically a radiation bath.'

Pelayo frowns and gives up on making his skin work for now. He looks at Malaclypse with blank white eyes.

'We sealed it off, so we arent killing the whole city but this isnt my area of expertise so im wary of unsealing it.'

((yeah, I think that works for him ))

"Ah, fucking techies. You know we got rid of most of them in the future, right? So there is hope."

She considers the radiation problem for a bit.

"I think I might have a solution to your problem, actually. You know, some isotope has got to be emitting that radiation. If we can just fiddle with its particles a little bit, we should be able to neutralize it and get back into the lab. What do you think?"

Pelayo considers this solution. It sounds great to him, but hes a surgeon, not a Nuclear physicist.

'Its a little out of my leauge but im willing to assist in any way i can.'

He looks down at him self, and then at the cybergoth decked out Malaclypse in front of him.

'But we arent getting through security and into the belly of the reactor looking like this...'

Mal looks down at herself and then looks at Pelayo.

"Yeah, you've probably got a point. Any back way into this place?"

Something she's wearing suddenly goes *DING*

She slaps at something at her waist, "Oh, would you just stop doing that? I can't seem to fix this damn thing."

'Weve both got malfunctions coming out our asses it seems. I still have all my security passwords, and technically im still on the staff there. I just need a face to match the ID and i can get us in...'

Pelayo touches the small circle on his temple again, the display overtaking his eyes. Tweaking code and trying to get the nanoskin to behave he tries one last time...

Malaclypse will get a bit of a show. Theres a faint hum as the skin finally powers up properly. Starting with Pelayos eyes veins of blue shoot through the nuetral grey of the skin, as if building a body from inside out. Reds and whites shoot through the skin as Pelayo forms into his familiar old self. Complete with scarring on his face, although not quite so drastic.

'About fucking time!' He sighs.

"Ahh, there you are!' Mal grins as Pelayo's face reappears.

"Well, you had a physics class or a chemistry class at one point, right? Remember different isotopes have different numbers of neutrons than the normal atoms...so if we can just strip the neutrons back down to the normal numbers and dissipate them somehow, we should be golden!"

She's almost jumping with excitement. "We'll have a proper lab, it'll be so great. Let's do this, then."

'Or glowing..' Pelayo grumbles.

With how his devices have been behaving lately hes not too confident in this endeavor. The consequences of failure could be painful and deadly.

But not having a lab isnt helping anyone either.

Pelayo will dig out his ID badge and pin it to his coat.

'Ok, we can just drive through the gate, park in the downstairs garage and this is our golden ticket right down the seals on the lab. From there...well, we have to wing it.'

Pelayo pets his badge and heads for Mals ridiculous car.

"You seem a little hesitant...Anyone else we could get to help with this, guys who know how to deal with, you know, forces of nature like radiation? We could have them contain the radiation while we work," she says, as she heads towards the driver's side of her horrifyingly pink car.
"That might give us a better chance of getting this done the first time, without any chance of glowing."

'Draconis would have been our guy. But he skipped town right after we lost the lab.'

Pelayos voice betrays his anger over this, he stops just short of calling his old friend a spineless rat bastard...

'We should be able to suit up for some basic protection, at least give us time to get the reversal process started...'

"Well, that sounds like a plan," she says, skipping over the Draconis issue which is obviously emotional for Pelayo.
She starts up the car, revs it loudly, and cheerfully asks, "Ok, Pelayo my boy, which way do we go?"

Pelayo will point straighjt at the main gate.

Even with her odd car they will be let right in once Pelayos security clearance is checked. THe underground parking garage is secure. Her obnoxious pink ride will be watched over while they go try and get radiation poisoning.

Its a short walk from the garage to the center of the main reactor building. Most of the jumpsuited emplyees seem to recognize Pelayo.

The secure elevator that leads to the lab is still sealed off.

'We might want to suit up, even though the levels down there basically nullify any protection we will get...'

Pelayos passcard will get them into an equipment room with your basic radiation protection suits, as well as 'first aid' supplies to be used during a reactor leak ranging from burn creams to lead vests to (iodine, i think?) pills for thyroid protection.

Pelayo will strip down and change into one of the heavy lead lined suits with a reclycled breather apparatus as he explains the situation down below...

'Everything is sealed, the elevator is trapped down below. We will have to climb down on top of the seal and attempt to open it and gain access, or work around it somehow to avoid leaking the radiation up here...'

Mal suits up as well and nods as Pelayo describes the situation.
"Yeah, I think our biggest problem is going to be trying not to release the radiation when we open the seal. Hmm...Let me think, I should come up with something by the time we get down there," she says, gesturing at Pelayo to lead the way.

She stops in her tracks, looking exactly like a cartoon character over whose head a lightbulb has just appeared. She walks over to the supplies in the room and looks around, finally pulling out a lead brick and lifting it up with some effort. "Where I come from, or rather when I come from, these suits aren't as heavy anymore, because they spread out the lead more, into a thinner lining. Now, if we can grab a couple of these and just spread the molecules out real thin over where we're working, we miiiight be able to contain the radiation. So long as we keep an eye on it, we should be ok!"
