Some things just cant be done alone. Pelayo has been hard at work on his nano-skin for a few days now, developing a new theory he calls Nano-Shelling where he can manipulate the skin to harden like steel and deflect damage.

Testing such a thing in a real situation is the next step. All his labs experiments have produced satisfactory results. Pelayo just doesnt have the nerve to armor up and shoot himself. So instead, he will ask for help.

'Yo Mal?'

Pelayo, big and naked as ever, presses the buzzer on Malaclypses lazer lab.

Mal is busily writing out schematics for a bigger and better laser, or whatever it is she's working on right now. It could be an ion cannon, she's just getting started, only to be interrupted by the buzzer.

"Yeah, Pelayo?" she hollers back. "Need me for something?"

'Yes.'

Pelayo answers, sounding suddenly distracted. He pops open the door to her lab and leans on the metal frame. He is wearing his new control glove that allows him to re-program his nano-skin on the fly.

Well, when it works properly.

'Ive got a new configuration I need some help testing. Feel like a little laser-tag?'

Pelayos skin craws and changes form for a few seconds. The change is subtle, the muted gray becomes hard and metallic on his upper torso, thighs, shoulders and elbows.

Pelayo seems dissapointed with the results of the transformation. There must still be a few bugs in the programming or maybe hen eeds some kind of quintessence fuel injection system to help power the nano-skin...

"Oh shit, dude, you got something for me to go PEWPEWPEW at?" Mal exclaims, excited.

"What can I do you fer, Senior Pelayo?" she asks, a twinkle in her eye as she saunters over to Pelayo, absently checking her laser gun in its holster.

Just then, Mal notices that Pelayo's suit doesn't seem to be working as it should.

"Hey, Pelayo, do you want me to take a look at that? It doesn't seem like it's getting enough juice, maybe something's giving it some resistance."

'Yeah you have any ideas? Maybe I need some kind of material absorbtion modification or something. The bots just arent cutting it on their own for creating armor...'

Pelayo steps close to Mal so she can look over his readouts on the gloves small screen. His current armor just looks weak, more like something youd wear to football practice than let someone shoot you with lazers while wearing.

"Hmm..." Malaclypse hums under her breath as she looks at the displays that Pelayo is showing her and examines his armor.

"Hmm..." she says again, as she pulls out one of her own devices and begins turning knobs and entering numbers.


"If I adjust the frequency at which your nanobots are following your commands just so...and we immanentize the eschaton...hmmm...."

She smiles brightly, as if to yell Eureka!

"Yeah, I think that should fix the problem. What do you think?" she asks Pelayo, showing him the output on her device's screen.

Pelayo scans over her readout and copies most of it into his wrist mounted unit with a string of rapid keystrokes from his free hand.

'I think that just might help, let me see if they take to it or not.'

Pelayo always talks about his nano-bots like they are alive, or have feelings. Luckily around here most quirks like that go unnoticed and for all anyone knows, that could be where his nano-theory is headed anyway.

Pelayos skin shifts again, the armor becoming thicker and extending to cover more of him. Its still nothing fantastic, just a little better than an ordinary flak vest.

'I think a quintessence fuel injection system is needed before this will be combat ready. The nanos just arent holding enough juice to construct fast enough. Color changing is one thing ,arranging to stop bullets is another monster altogether... think we could talk Gand out of a few bottles?'

Mal watches as Pelayo's armor shifts.

"Hmm, yeah, that looks better already!" she purrs, pleased beyond words by such a display of advanced technology.

"I'm gonna get paid in bottles when I fix Gand's car, I could bring them over and share, if you'd like," she adds.

'Howabout I assist and we charge him double?'

Pelayo waggles chrome eyebrows and cant resist striking a dramatic, super hero pose in his shiny armored skin.

'I would get so embarassingly killed in this. Maybe I should just stick to stealth algorythms until we have some juice to work with.'

"Ha! That or get pursued by nerds yelling COLOSSUS! YOU ARE REAL! OMYGODLETMELICKYOU!" Mal laughs.

"But yeah, I think Gand wanted you to do the armor and me to do the weapons systems on his car, so we should get plenty of delicious fuel," she says, grinning.

'Can you say that last part again, like real slow...'

Pelayo mumbles at Mal for a moment before clearing his throat and nodding.

'Fuck yeah ill armor shit up. A bigger surface area like that should be easy. I have some nano-compounds I wanted to test out anyway.'

Mal, totally oblivious, just goes..."Ok! Deeeeeeliciouuuuus ffffuuuuueeeelll."

She looks pensive for a moment, thinking up how exactly she would arm that car...which she hasn't even seen yet.

"Oh! Dude, I haven't even seen the car yet, how am I going to know where to mount weaponry? We should go see Gand and try to get a look at the car. I bet it's nice."

'I bet its not obnoxiously pink either.'

Pelayo comments, refrring to malaclypse's crazy vehicle. He will go retrieve some clothing- as he is loathe to do- so that he can get into the club or wherever they will need to go without anyone getting all freaked out on him. Odds are a naked guy getting out of a pink hello kitty mobile will draw some attention.

Clothed and carrying a bag with his scanner glove and a few other gadgets Pelayo will call down the lift.

Mal makes a quick stop back in her lab to pick up some of her equipment, then runs back to join Pelayo in the left.

"Yeah, good plann on the clothes, I think they're more used to seeing naked women in the White Rabbit, you might stand out," she grins, playfully punching him the the shoulder.

"To the HelloKitty mobile!" she adds as soon as the lift starts moving.
