A news flash will hijack almost every channel. The greying newscaster looking slightly unprepared for the live interruption...

'This just in, An earthquake in sanfield?.. not quite. Details are sketchy but initial reports say the "quake" was in fact an explosion shortly after sunset in the old mines in the mountains... Authorities are flocking to the area and rescue teams are headed in via helicopter in case anyone is trapped...'

He listens to his earpiece a moment ,as anotehr sheet of paper is handed to him.

'The United states geological survey reports that these explosions sometiems occur from trapped gasses in the old mines. There is no danger to anyone not in the area directly above the mineshafts.'

The report will be repeated every ten minutes with no new developments for much of the night...
