An E-mail is sent to Rah'shid by those who trained him.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Fellow Professor Rah'shid,

The Technocracy has increased activity in our area and we must lay low until we are able to remove their presence. Due to this, we will be unable to teach the new initates, however we must still have these young students learn.  Therfore, we will be sending these fine men and women to various mentors.  We have selected you to tutor a miss Engel Rapunzel Lee.  You may expect her Tuesday at noon, on the east platform in downtown Sanfield.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

He will be a little early, parking his Honda and standing on the platform waiting for his new student.

*At 12 o'clock, right on the nose, she arrives; she is standing on the East platform with nothing but a single dark, purple suitcase by her side.

She does up the buttons on her knee-length purple coat and tightens the belt. She looks around for the man who is to be her new tutor, a Mr....Rahshid. She seams quite confident apart from the fact that from time to time she'll begin chewing on her lower lip, a flaw she has that shows that she is actually quite nervous.*

He waits as the platform clears of people, not knowing what his student looks like or how old she would be, Rah'shid really has no way of identifying her.  After all, it isn't like he can just yell out "Are there any Etherites in the crowd?", particularly with the Technocracy possibly following him.  He stands near a trash can, briefly looking inside to see what people threw out.  Only a few people are still on the platform, having very few ways to detect other awakened, he waits and observes on who makes a move.

*She keeps telling herself to stop biting her lip or it'll bleed, and finally the little voice inside her head that keeps her on track wins and she sighs.

Her gaze sweeps across the people. Some are laughing, hugging onto friends and family. Not too far from her a young woman is greeted by a young man, scooped up and spun around, skirts twirling, like they are part of some old black and white movie. Engel smiles then looks away, not wanting to pry into their private moment.

She looks to her left, spotting the man peeking into the garbage can. Perhaps he is a pauper...but he is not dressed as one.

By now the vast magority of the people have moved off of the platform, making their way to their cars or taxies. She's not sure of what to do...or who she is even to meet. All she knows is his name...nothing more. She decides to stand there, eventually their paths will cross and they will meet....when the time is right they will know who each other is...that she is certain of.*

Detect Awakened: Corr 1 Prime 1 Base D of 4

2008-10-17 17:15:50 Rahshid rolls 3 dice to detect awakened (Diff 3) 9,6,1 (1 success)

Taking out his cellphone, he activates a program on it that is able to detect fellow awakened. A simple effect, the screen of his phone points in the direction of the closest awakened with in a small distance with a colored arrow. It points over to a woman in a purplish coat, Rah'shid looks over to her and nods.

*She doesn't need to be a rocket scientist to realize that nod is for her....besides most everyone is gone from the platform.

Engel picks her suitcase up and heads over to Rahshid.* Mr. Rahshid I presume? *her accent is Canadian, she accentuates everything simply yet clearly, and her voice is gentle yet she deffinately sounds sure of herself and quite confident.*

Nodding to her identification, he looks down to her suitcase, "Is there any other luggage?"

Pleasure to finally meet you, Mr. Rahshid. I have been looking forward to this for so very long. *She shakes her head, then brushes a strand of silvery-blond hair out of her face.* No,this is it.

He nods slightly, motioning to the car.

"Then lets go to the lab and get started."

He removes his keys, unlocking the doors, opeing the trunk for her to put her lugage in. After her suitcase is secure, he opens her door and ushers her in.  Though new to the lab himself, it would be a decent place for her to start her research, far better then the factory at least.

"So miss Engel, what is your field of study?"

*She keeps up with him, wanting to make a good impression on this man. She's been waiting for this day for months! All thoughout her trip she was sitting on pins and needles, excited to get here...but it was bitter-sweet...leaving Evin and Brandon behind. Away from her family, but ready to start learning.

Her suitcase goes into the trunk and then she seats herself in the car.*

They would both get in the car, a little bit of a drive to the power plant, a good time for introductions.

"Chemestry, thats pretty intresting.  I do mostly engineering, but latley have been dabling in a bit of chemistry.  So Before I can start instructing you, I probably should get an idea of what you already know from your time with our norther brothers and sisters."

I'll be, of course, more than happy to answer any questions you have to ask me, Mr.Rahshid. *Her hands rest on her lap, thumbs held to keep them from fluttering all over the place like excited sparrows.*

"Well, lets start off with what you know from your time with them."

Rah'shid does his best to avoid the area around the Monolith tower.  He wouldn't like his new student getting taken in by the Techs on their way to the lab.

Rah'shid raises an eyebrow at Engle as she avoids the question, and slightly confused by the response.

"So, what do you know?  What have you been taught?"

I have been taught that knowing too much about anything can cause chaos, Mr. Rahshid..*yes, she is the little diplomat...or perhaps she is just being careful.* If you'd prefer, I could pretend I know nothing other than whatever you teach me...I can become a clean slate.

"Ooookay, guess we will go blank slate then." An odd response, Rah'shid thinks to himself.  A blank slate would probably be easier to handle.

"Alright, we'll start from the top.  You, are a mage.  You have the ability to do extrodinary things, even manipulating the laws of physics and natural laws. You have chosen to become one of Us, a Son of Ether.  We are scientists who explore new potentials and theories of the universal laws of matter.  In otherwords, of the Traditions,  guess you can say we are Radio Shack."  The Traditions, he wonders if she knows of them.

"Do you know of the Traditions?"

*She listens carefully, nodding now and again. She doesn't know much of this man so she finds it wise to let him have the upper hand on her guidance though the wonderful world of being a mage.* Yes, Mr. Rahshid...I am in love with anything of the scientific nature. I am honored to be a Son of Ether.

*She turns her head, blinks then slowly shakes her head.* No, sadly I don't know much of Traditions...

Rah'shid frowns a little.  She must have been picked up the day they shipped her.  He hoped that she may have a little bit more knowledge, but a blank slate will do.

"Well there are nine traditions, one for each sphere of 'magic'.  We, Sons of Ether, deal with 'matter magic'.  There are the Order of Hermes, kind of like your D&D "I throw fireballs" mages, they deal with 'forces magic'; or magic that effects things that aren't matter or living, like fire, cold, and gravity.  Dreamspeakers are kind of like hippie mages, who deal with the 'spirit world' and 'spirit magic'.  I don't know much about their practices, other then that they see dead people.  Close to us are the Verbena, who are 'blood witches' and 'warlock'.  They specialize in 'life magic', altering living things.  Next we have the Virtual Adepts, who deal with 'correspondence magic', magic dealing with space and distance.  There are also the Celestial Chorus who have a hard on for 'the one', whatever that is, and use 'prime magic'; magic that effects magic. Euthanatos are mages who use 'entropy magic', magic that effects luck, fate, desteny, and the cycle of life.  Or so I am told. Then there is the Akashic Brotherhood, monk like mages that use 'mind magic', effecting the minds of others as well as their own."

He takes a breath after his long winded speach before continuing, making sure she is paying attention.

"And last, we have the Cult of Ecstacy, a bunch of over doesed degenerates who deal with 'time magic', magic that distorts the flow of time."

He gives her a moment to let his little speach sink in, "Questions so far?"

*Brows furrow slightly, she's heard of these...well some of these and vaugly long ago under slurred tongues* Very well...*she would like to admit that she had heard of bits of this, fragments of that but what would he think if she said 'Oh, my ex rambled about hurling fireballs at people and time alterations while he was tripping once', that's in the past...let sleeping dogs lay. Anyway she knew Jack shit about it then, she assumed it was stupid rambings*

No, I have understood it all. *Every single little drop.*
