These streets call to him.

The dingy alleyways lined with decaying buildings, the filthy, unwatched places of so-called society, filled with the equally poor and unwanted… He knew it all too well… the stench of fear, the cries of poverty, and the quickened heartbeat of desperation. These were the breeding grounds of crime…

In his normal attire, he would stand out too much, and the last thing he needed was some young degenerate trying to mug him at knife point while he was attempting to explore the area. He planned to get to know these streets quite well over time... no doubt it would be an endless resource... And so he had put on a suitable disguise to blend in as he headed out onto the streets tonight….

Joey was sprawled out on the stone steps like a ghetto Roman god, and completely spaced out before Beans popped him.

When Beans points out the poseur, Joey will look him over, relax, and quickly change the subject.

Standing, Joey will redirect his query to the disguised Mr. Blackburn, emphasizing the imperative.

"Yo muthafackle! Don't you owe my boy here a bill?!"

Cole realizes his error as soon as he grabs the attention of the kind of characters he was precisely trying to avoid. Inwardly, he swears. He slows when he is shouted at, opting to take the path of an ignorant tourist.

He turns slightly, peering up at the men with a confused look.

"Huh? 'The hell ya talkin' about?"

'You gots ta pay the ass-hole tax if your gonna strut that weak shit up in here boy.'

I stand up, flicking my cigarette, actually a lucky stuffed halfway with some primo green directly at Cole. You see, most people find me intimidating. Im a big, angry black man known to lose his temper and fuck bitches up.

He wouldn't normally let a couple of small time street thugs get to him. But it could be that he wasn't expecting to be discovered and he wasn't prepared for this... He flinches as the cigarette is flicked out at him, and he takes a few steps back, looking between the two men. If anything, this starts to piss him off...

Two against one... though because of the initial intimidation, he isn't as keen to start a fight right away. It is time to try a different tactic first...

[Awe at 4 successes would effect 20 people, so both Beans and Joey will be caught in the effect. This is a weird power to use on hostile people, as it makes people want to be closer to you and to listen to you.

So i guess them being inclined to listen to you was the sought after effect, but Awe wont shift them away from hostility or anything like that.]

I feel a sudden numbness on the back of my neck and for a second it might look like the awe aint gonna take. The sudden shift in feeling towards Cole comes and i grunt with a sudden realization. If nothing else im set back to nuetral. Ill listen to the motherfucker for now.

'Aight crackah. The fuck you doin in my hood with those whack ass colors on?'

Joey doesn't really do hostile, even when he's stabbing people, he does so with a smile. Maybe it's the self-medication.

Trying to manipulate them is like trying to reason with a couple of simple minded animals. Though this would have to do... he doesn't have much patience for their kind...

Glancing to Joey as he goes on about this "bill" which he assumes means money.

"How about you just let me get on my way..."

He is being about as patient as he can manage with these guys... but it is wearing thin quickly.

I talk incredibly fast when i get frustrated. My eyes bug out and my nostrils flare real wide. Like the face of an angry bull ready to gore a bitch into the ground.

'You aint bouncin up outa here until we sez you be free to go. Now how about you hand over your wallet, watch, cell-phone and them faggot-ass shoes of yours before mah boy Ustlah here aerates ya neck.'

And that is it. He has had enough from these fools... Indeed, no more playing...

In that second, his demeanor completely changes, he straightens, his eyes narrow, his face hard and determined...

His arms spread from his sides slightly, staring down the two "tough guys", inspecting them carefully before speaking.

"I'd be happy to oblige... Why don't you come and get them?"

Cultural norms can be rather fickle, what passes for polite conversation in one group may well call for a duel to the death in another. For what it's worth, Joey and Beans were actually being polite, at least as far as their culture dictates.

If Cole's botched disguise had not already alerted them to his utter lack of street-cred, his inability to return the hollow threats which are the hallmark of the ghetto-thug soon would have.

Joey, is somewhat confused. Not that such isn't his default status most days, but suddenly there has been a failure in protocol that causes him to question what is actually going on here.

"Yo, hold up man, I need to take my pill." He says, squinting at his wristwatch. "I feel like I got a motherfuckin' garbage truck parked on my forehead."

As is often the case, his words mean very little to anyone other than himself, but he does start rummaging around in his pockets for the telltale orange bottle with a white lid and printed label and begins trying to incorrectly open the top.
