David leaves a message for Ms. Moreau via the vapid secretary.  "Ms. Moreau, I t-t-thank you for your prompt attention t-t-to the message I attempted t-t-to leave earlier.  T-t-thanks to your quite rapid response or lack t-t-thereof I have spent t-t-the last hour crawling in a sewer and now owe not one, but t-t-two boons t-t-to those t-t-that call it t-t-their home.  I understand t-t-that I may not be showing you t-t-the proper respect Ms. Moreau, but RESPECT…" And David snarls that out before calming again, "...but respect is a t-t-two way street.  Please, and I say again, please enjoy t-t-the rest of your evening."

Of course, the secretary could not be further from 'vapid' Sasha is quite particular about those she hires. Patricia is actually a card-carrying member of MENSA. But it certainly pays to play dumb, especially in her line of work, and most especially with ignorant males who believe they have some innate superiority.

When Sasha receives the message, she is less than pleased, David has given her far too many reasons to dislike him in the short time he has been in this city. This may well be the last straw.

She will not bother to ring him back directly, she will simply record a voicemail and send it to his phone. Her voice positively radiates with mirth.

"David, whether it was truly your intention or not, your message has, in fact, made my evening quite enjoyable. The mental imagery alone was priceless, the knowledge that you are already accumulating substantial debt will keep a smile on my face for some time to come."

Suddenly becoming all business, her tone is more familiar. "Your incessant insubordination is rapidly outweighing your usefulness in my domain, real or imagined. If I were you, I would make every attempt to become accustomed to surviving without my aid."

David presses nine.
