Continued from: I Owe a Favor

Tonight's the night. Thaddeus is supposed to be out on the town. I'm not exactly sure why Sebastian wanted to be sure the Master of the Manor would be away while I was perusing their library, but I suppose it's for the best. I mean, it's not that I want to go behind the Regent's back, but I really can't have him getting wise to me poking around in his books either. Somehow I doubt he would be pleased about it.

Sebastian made sure to stress the fact that Thaddeus would know that I had been here, just not what I was really doing or where. The alibi is supposed to be something about me dropping by to pick MacDonald's brain about how to grow stuff better.

I just hope that the four hours I asked for will be enough.

Hyde heads for the security gate, smiling as the guard's eyes widen at the disparity between the non-descrïpt man in a suit he sees approaching, and the giant freak of nature that shows up on his security-feed. You'd think they would be getting used to that by now.

"Evenin' gents. Mister Hyde to see Mister MacDonald."

Sebastion get call from security, "Let Him in he is a guest of mine." He meet Hyde at the front door. "Please follow my path to the library. I would not want you to set off any little surprises." He lead him around showing him a false path of safety so he is still in dark where exactly the traps are located. "The main library is your for the night and do you need assistance of finding specific tomes because are book are not label and are not in specific order."

Hyde is rather amazed when Sebastian leads him to the library via a completely different route than the last time he was taken through here, the Chantry is simply enormous and easily rivals the Hovel in its Escher-esque architecture, designed to confuse one's sense of direction.

Hyde's tone is formal, and somewhat somber as he responds to the huge Tremere. "Much appreciated, Mr. MacDonald, but I wouldn't dream of taking a minute more than the four hours I requested. We have a contract, and I shall follow it to the letter. Some things are sacred, even among abominations."

Lightening up some, he adds "Thank, you for the offer, but no. I think that me 'avin' ta find the books on my own is what makes this deal fair, I'm sure you could get in a heap of trouble for this, and I won't have no one sayin' Ol' Mister Hyde ain't fair in his dealings."

"You jus' make sure you come and get me when my time is up, I have no desire to learn first-hand exactly how much more sophisticated your clan's traps are than mine." and chuckles, somewhat nervously, at his jest.

"Well Happy Hunting and good luck. I do think you may need it and i will be back in 4 hours." He leaves Hyde in library to attend to his own business of the night. He dose not think the fist will be slam to hard on this situation because he hoping that it may bring to a stronger alliance with Hyde's clan.

Hyde pulls his pocket-watch out and takes note of the time down to the second-hand. "Thank you my stalwart friend, I will see you then."

When left to his own devices, Hyde will begin by giving each of the shelves a cursory glance, just to get some idea of what is where. While it is immediately obvious that the Tremere do not employ the Dewey-Decimal system, there must be some sort of system.

2008-11-17 19:40:56Hyde rolls 6 dice to Int+Occ (hour 1) (Diff 8) 3,1,4,3,7, 8 (failure)

Hyde wastes the first hour aimlessly wandering around the shelves, when he was in here several months ago, carting a broken ghoul on a gurney, he did not realize that he was only seeing a fraction of the actual library. Not only are there more books than he could even count in the four hours he has been allotted, many of them are written in languages he does not even recognize, much less comprehend.

2008-11-17 19:41:15Hyde rolls 6 dice to Int+Occ (hour 2) (Diff 8) 5,4,10,2,4, 5 (1 success)

The second hour he at least finds some information related to the topic he seeks, nothing spectacular, but at least a few new things he can cross-reference. It is intriguing that the Sabbat so abhor Infernalism. More even than they hate the Camarilla, it would seem. But why? Taking his phone with the integrated digital camera from his pocket, he quickly records all of the relevant information, that he might peruse it at his leisure and continue his search. He said nothing of not copying whatever he might find, only that he would not leave with anything he did not himself bring in...

2008-11-17 19:41:42Hyde rolls 6 dice to Int+Occ (hour 3) (Diff 8) 5,7,9,2,6, 7 (1 success)

As another hour slips by, he discovers a few more morsels of knowledge, digitizing them and moving on. The answer is even more intriguing; Because they have been plagued by Infernalists to more of a degree than any other group in history, mortal or otherwise. And why is this? Not simply because they invited the demons to their homes, but because they are Diablarists, through and through. Devouring and assimilating the souls of all other Kindred who fall before them, and occasionally even their own ranks.

Why would a demon go to all of the extra effort of tempting multiple sinners into damnation, offering each individual soul baubles, knowledge and power, when it is just as easy  to claim two for the price of one? Or five, or ten...

But while the all of this is fascinating, and touches on what he wants to know, this is not the information he seeks.

With his time rapidly evaporating, Hyde redoubles his efforts, with only fifteen minutes left, he stumbles onto exactly what he was after. Against all odds, he has found the formulaic series of gestures, intonations, and components he requires. He makes sure to take two sets of photos of each page, just to be sure. He will have to study the particulars later. Quickly putting all of the books back exactly where he found them, with the exception of a treatise on Sabbat tactics he stumbled across. He will continue to read this last tome until Sebastian arrives to lead him out.

He arrive on the fourth hours to release Hyde from the chantry library. He open the door to find everything is back where it should be. "Excuse me as i examine the bookshelf to find anything out of order." He scan the shelf rapidly like a machine firing upon the unexpected victims.

Sebastion rolls 9 dice to book Search (Diff 5) 3,7,4,10,4, 7,1,3,10,5, 6 (5 successes) -1 difficulty because of familiar ground

He seems to find a couple book out of place so he fix themes. "Just slightly out places but it look like everything is still their." He knows that everything is still their but it good to not show your hand unless you have too. "I hope you found your info Hyde."

"I believe I have found what I needed. I thank you for your efforts." Hyde will re-shelf the last book as Sebastian leads him from the library, no doubt in an equally confusing manner.

As He walks Hyde from house to the main gate to make sure no ghouls steps his bound. "I'm sorry with constant security concern over the siege and that overtaking my ability to be good host. I know you understand and i would  expect the same control in your domain." He seems to be really concern about trying to keep balances of hospitality and security. " In the future if your clan ever needs a helping hand. I would hope you would keep the Tremere in mind for aid."

as he walks out the gate, he turns "Same goes for you though, if ya need anythin' don't hesitate to call."
