In the dead of a winter night a single car will approach the Tremere chantry. The sleek black Jaguar is one of the princes many vehicles and he will make his presence known to security to expedite his journey towards the manor itself. When the vehicle comes to a rest the engine is shut down and Carter lets himself out of the back seat. His eyes will wander for just a moment as he takes in the gardens and the main building. Its not unlike his home on the other side of the city. He has always felt far too comfortable here...

The Driver will wait with the car while Carter heads up the steps and knocks on the door. He is cool and composed, dressed in a bit of an anachronism with modern clothes but a jacket that would have been all the rage some two hundred years ago.

Jiles, the Regent's manservant opens the door immediately,"I am deeply sorry Milord. Please come inside, I shall inform the Regent of your arrival at once. Would you care to await him in the study or perhaps the garden? I do believe there is a slight chill to the evening, but I have heard the sky is beautiful," wanting to make certain he is comfortable. He had told the gate guards that he was to be informed immediately upon anyone's arrival. He will certainly have a very harsh set of words in order for that simpleton.

He awaits the Prince's reply before leaving to fetch his master, having told the Regent only moments ago that there was someone arriving. Had he known it was Mr. Vanderweyden he would have moved with more rapidity indeed. He only rarely came to the chantry and the Regent was very thorough about his treatment while he was on the grounds, very thorough indeed.

'The study will be fine. You will fetch both the Master of the estate and Mister Macdonald for me.'

Carter speaks to Giles in a manner he is likely used to in his position as manservant. There is no request, there is no please. Carter will await the Tremere in the study, taking a seat once he has set down a black bottle with red wax sealing the cork onto a table for the Regent to find.

Jiles immediately sets Norman, a recent addition to fetch Sebastion while he gathers his master. He knows this is an unexpected meeting and the Regent can be quite touchy when presented with something he did not anticipate.

He knocks at the door just as it is opened. The Regent is dressed in his house robes, that are covered in strange runes. They are made from priceless silk and fabrics that suggest the power that belies its wearer. He had been at work in his laboratory when Jiles had to interrupt him and he seems to have made the change of garments rather quickly, though his hair is still let down. "Master, your guest Mr. Vanderweyden is awaiting your presence in the study," with a slight bow, hoping to avoid any of this fiasco resting upon his shoulders.

"Yes, I am aware. See that we are not disturbed," as he begins to walk toward the study. He turns about quickly as if something had crossed his mind,"Jiles, see that whomever failed to act under your authority in the guardhouse is relieved of their duties. I shall not abide failure." He turns again, headed straight toward the study with a question lingering in his mind.

Jiles smiles at his lord's departure,"Yes sire, I shall take care of the matter myself."

I enter the room with a bow toward the lord of Sanfield. "Good evening my lord, I apologize about my tardiness. I believe Mr. McDonald should be here shortly enough," as he approaches the seated man. He drops to a knee as he approaches,"May thy reign last forever and your wisdom guide, I am your weapon," in a ceremonial tone. Most of the younger kindred know not what lead to the formation of the sect they now belong to, nor its practices from long ago. It is ceremonial, but reaffirms the hierarchy within the city, it is a ritual and in that, is reassuring. Carter and I have known each other for many years and endured numerous struggles, we are close, but it is because we follow our rituals. Should either of us deviate, the other would know, it is just our way. I rise to take a seat and await my apprentice, this meeting shall indeed prove intriguing indeed.

Sebastion enter the door to the study. He sees both the Prince and the Regent waiting together. He notices that the The Regent was caught off guard by a very un-expecting guest by his attire. Hmm he is judging the situation in his head if this is a good meeting or a bad meeting.

“Good evening my lord.” He bows to the prince with his right arm strait to his side and his left arm hold against his chest.  He tries to find a place allowing the Power Player have their rightful spot in the room and he can stand out of their way.

'Your loyalty is my strength.'

Carter returns a respectful nod to both Tremere and bids them to sit.

'Forgive my unannounced arrival. I have dire news and a proposition I hope you will find agreeable.'

The mad prince will wait until both men are seated before he continues. He sits calmly, as if he rehearsed this or really is just that controlled when he needs to be.

'Zaine, my sheriff is failing this domain. His personal agendas are such that he is hindering himself while the Sabbat grow bolder each night. I have relieved him of his duties.'

Carter looks from the Regent to Sebastion. He knows of the sometimes errant Tremeres feelings towards the sheriff. They becmae quite clear when he was involved with Reinas introduction...

'This domain has long stood as a testament to the relationship our clans have forged over the centuries.'

There are a million implications hidden in that sentence. One of which remains in that black, sealed bottle on the middle of the table.

'I have watched you over the last few decades with great interest Sebastion. You speak out of place in court but have always show me much respect, the neonates all respect you and you seem to have a keen interest in aiding others. I wish to offer you Zaines title as sheriff and all the merit and responsibility that goes with such a title in these perilous times.'

The position of Sheriff isnt one most kindred are cut for, especially during a Sabbat incursion but Carter believes Sebastion has the strength of will to pull it off. The added responsibility might keep him a little more in line with the Regent as well...

I raise my brow, at the offer. Quite interesting indeed it would benefit our clan greatly, but it comes with its own problems as well. I will turn my gaze toward my apprentice wondering what his reply will be...

He give a stern look to prince as He began to think critically about offer. He knows that he could really do some good in this city because he has form of respect from most Neonates in the city.

He speaks with much passion in his voice. "My Liege, I would like to discuss one issues with me taking this offices and that is my feeling upon the ones with weak blood. I will not be able to take as aggressive stance as Zaine upon that subject because i have dealt with them in the siege of Ireland. I know of the potential of having a useful force that is fighting for basic right of being accepted in our society. This issues is on the back burner but I still need to express my motive before we run into this problem and the future."

He crack his knuckles and pauses for a second or two before continued on. "I believe that is only issues i have and I gladly lead Sanfield into a time of peaces and serenity as sheriff."

'The young ones that are accepted into the domain as per the Second Tradition have nothing to fear from us.'

Its a typically political answer, and probably not exactly what Sebastion was getting at, but Carters stance on the youngest generations is really no different than any other prince.

'As Sheriff you will quickly learn how an overcrowded domain can easily fall to Chaos. To have peace and serenity we must have Order, I know as well as you do that young ones of thin blood exist; but if they do not follow our rules- set up for the good of all- they forfeit that right to exist in my domain.'

"I understand." He know that if he want the random slaughtering of the thin blood to stop than he will have to bring them to the table.

He lean his massive body against the wall."How are we going to make this shift in power know in the city?"

'I will inform the elders and the information can be dissemenated to their clans in the usual fashion. Come sunset tommoro your new Status will be known.'

Carter assures Sebastian. Nothing would hamper a new sheriff like noone believing that he is.

'The Primogen will assign you a new deputy upon their next meeting. Miss Bells indentured servitude is at an end come the end of the month.'

Timing, they say, is everything. Hyde's timing in most matters is not what most would consider lucky, or even good; but what can one really do about their providence?

Sometime during this discussion over the shifting of paradigms in Sanfield, a phone will ring in the chantry. Most likely to be answered by the head of the 'service' staff; an already frazzled and perturbed Jiles.

"Evenin' sir, this 'ere is Mister 'Ide. I need ta speak with Mister Von Austice at 'is earliest possible convenience."

He certainly sounds frazzled on the phone, his thoughts and verbiage erratic.

"Oh, yes sir, indeed. Does the master have your telephone address? I shall see he gets the message immediately...."

"Ta tell th' truth ol' bean, I ain't rightly sure. I unnerstand 'ees got a memory like an elephant, but I also 'ear 'ees got an aversion ta technology. So jus'ta be on'na safe side, lem'me rattle it off again fer ya."

Hyde pauses, allowing the man to pick up a piece of stationary and a pen if need be before continuing with the string of digits.

"If it ain't too much ta ask, please tell 'is Lordship that it's urgent, but that I also need ta speak wif Mister Vanderweyden an I don't really have a way to get ahold of im wifout bein' rude. If yer master can be considered to have an aversion ta tech, then Carter is downright allergic, if ya know what I mean."

"Certainly sir, he is entertaining guests at the moment and I am certain he will contact you at his earliest convenience," as he begins taking down the number.

He seems a bit disconnected for a moment, tripping over his words, his speech slurring a bit.

"Um, I do beg your pardon sir, but it would appear that Reagent Von Austice does wish you to come to the manor immediately. He told me to mention something about an urgent situation. He mentioned that Bedlam needed a transfer? Perhaps you know what he means..." obviosly having no point of reference, but stating exactly what he was to say never the less.

There is a pause on Hyde's end.

'Bedlam?' Hyde thinks, the word immediately conjuring forth images of the St. Mary of Bethlehem psychiatric hospital in his hometown of London; the place from which the word Bedlam is derived. In it's modern usage, bedlam means a place or situation of noisy uproar and confusion, but of course this makes absolutely no sense in the context which the Regent used it, and Hyde has never known Thaddeus to be nonsensical. He must have been making a reference to the place. 'Bot whot in'na bloody 'ell does that mean?' he wonders.

'For fuck's sake, Hyde. Stop thinking about it and just GO!' something in the back of his mind chides him.

"Roight. Un'nerstood Jiles. Ya can expect me at the front door in about five ticks. Cheerio."

With this, the line goes dead.
