Pelayo will stay up and try to explain things to the new apprentice... Its not fair to leave him in the dark.. he may go running off.

Pelayo sits at Draconis's small bar, mixing himself a whiskey sour, very heavy on the whiskey and asks Rahshid to join him.

"So lets start off at the beginning...what exactly is going on?" Rah'shid asks Pelayo, mixing himself a scotch.

"Who is after me, and more particularly, why?

'The people after you are the Men in black.. the technocratic union...' Pelayo takes a swig of his drink and before Rahshid can ask, says: 'Youve never heard of them.'

'But, they've heard of you.. because your like us. You do things other people cant, things you shouldnt be able to do... you can bend reality to your will. Those doors you design... you know damn well they violate some laws of engineering, yet they still work, perfectly..'

Pelayo gives Rahshid a knowing look, waiting for him to process this all..

"I know of these men in black, I made doors for them last week.  So your saying because they baught doors from me, that they are now hunting me down for whatever reason?"  Rah'shid takes a swig of scotch, slightly recoiling from the bitterness.

"This is decent scotch.  I guess I'll need to hire a manager for my store then."

Pelayo nods. ' Laying low for a while would be a good idea... you dont want these guys to get ahold of you...'

He doesnt go into detail, not wanting to scare the man...

'This isnt how we planned to take you into things... We had a lab and a safe haven up until tonight. The technocracy attacked us via the computers and we were lucky to get out alive... then we had to get to you ebfore they did..'

"What do you mean by 'bending reality to my will?' You mean like superpowers?" Rah'shid asks, taking another hit of scotch.

Pelayo Chuckles.

'No not really... some call it manipulating luck, others call it magic. For people like us... its more an ability to create things most people wouldnt believe in..'

Pelayo stands up, finishing his drink and pacing a bit.

'Take Draconis for example, as im sure you remember he has a gun that manipulates gravitational forces... or me, i created this nano skin that i can control.. more or less..'

Hes still working on that last part...

'Your like us, a Son of Ether, you have power over physical things... Matter. '

"In other words, we're radio shack?"

Rah'shid chuckles at the thought.

"The who was the fool who was shooting at things in my office?  He didn't sound like a rescue team..."

Grinning slightly like an idiot, from the thought of knocking him in the head with a bat naturally, Rah'shid takes another drink of scotch.

Pelayo rolls his eyes and pours himself another drink.

'That was Vincent.. He gets a little gung-ho some times. Hes like us too.. only, not.. really not.'

He finds his seat again.

'Hes part of a much older, much.. weirder group of mages.'

"You mean there are other groups?  How many?  Are they all gung-ho like that?"

Rah'shid asks, with a little worry in his voice.  After all, if all the sects acted like that, he figured the world would be a much more dangerous place then it already is.  On the other hand...reckless people are great for testing places for traps ((HINT HINT)).

'There are Nine groups, or Traditions as we call them...'

(Ok, im not posting the entire history lesson, i know you read it. Is there anything specific Rahshid would ask about or can we gloss over a bunch of background id just be plagurizing anyway here? )

Almost done with his scotch, "so what happens now?" Rah'shid asks.  Although he doesn't fully understand what is going on yet, he has a good enough idea to work with.

'Right now. ' Pelayo says, finishing his drink. 'Get some sleep... you'll be meeting the rest of the traditions tommoro. Its about time we had a conclave...'

Pelayo stretches and stands, heading off to one of Draconis's guest rooms for the night.
