Posted 15/12/2008 02:36:53 AM | | As much as Jillian was the socialite of her clan, she was also one of its most dedicated scholars, though not many know...
She didn't sleep a lot. It wasn't necessary. She could survive off of 6 hours of sleep a day, which left plenty of daytime hours to confine her to her darkened apartment before the various draws of the night drew her outside...
It was one such day... Confined to the prison of her condo, as she thinks of it sometimes, Jillian's mind is dedicated to her studies... but something pulls her away..
Her mind is wandering tonight.. To other people, other times, other places... She tried to focus, but there was no luck.. She had no concentration this day.. and it was frustrating...
She had locked herself away in the area of her condo never seen by anyone aside from herself, and the Regent, only once... Her garage.. which she insulated and converted into a library, a study space..
The scene was all set.. Her books spread across her desk, notes here and there, a space cleared for her tests...
But rather than using these things tonight, Jillian sits in a corner, on a large pillow.. music plays softly in the background and she simply gazes, unmoving except for her eyes, at a picture in her hand....
Her mind was a hundred years away. Literally.. A better time, a better place... maybe... A time of innocence...
She thinks of her human years... she was beautiful even then. Too beautiful, perhaps... Her family wasn't well off.. not at all.. Jillian, born under the name of Jill Ann Banks, the odds were all stacked against her....
She did fall in love once.. Young love, some may call it... with the young man in her photograph.. He was a soldier, and her best friend... At age 15, she was ready to marry him.. but at the same moment, a much richer suitor came into the picture, and her parents were all too eager to toss the love of her life to the wolves for a quick profit...
She traced the outline of her picture, faded and worn, lost in her thoughts...
Then things fell apart... Her betrothed had the money, but nothing else... From the day her parents agreed to the marriage of Jill to Edward Wright, he demanded that she fulfill her marital duties. Even before the were wed, he wanted to take her physically.. As any proper woman should, she denied him... Until he finally lost patience and simply took it...
That was the night she became pregnant with her child... Only 3 weeks after the marriage had been agreed upon, 4 months before they were to be officially wed...
Her family was furious.. they naturally assumed that an upstanding man such as her future husband would know the laws, the premarital relations were strictly forbidden.. and that she must have given herself to her lover, Nathan Samuel.
Jillian was cast out of proper society, scorned by her family and friends... Even her future husband took back his dowry and cancelled his proposition.
Even her young lover was too ashamed to be seen with her, since he never had her physically, he knew the child wasn't his, and assumed that Jill was improper.
All alone and with no hope of a future, Jillian threw herself into studies.. Every penny she scrounged up went to books, ways to teach herself to regain her standing, teach herself the ways of the world...
The child was lost, mid pregnancy, in a miscarriage.. Jill was devastated....
Jillian wipes at her eye for a moment, as if to wipe away a tear, if they were to flow anymore...
The books were her only consolation.. her studies... which is how she caught the eye of her sire.. and his.. followers... his clan....
She stops her thoughts there.. It is very unlike Jillian to slip into the memories.. they simply waste time...
One more moment is granted to think of the here and now...
Sanfield Rock.. such a pleasant city.. much better than the city she was first taught in, so many years ago..
Though the lower class leaves a lot to be desired.. Oh how she resents them for all the pain that they caused her in the human years... Scorn her and exile her... Which is why she is so intolerant of them now...
She brought herself to her current situation...
A soft smile is granted to herself...
She worked from the ground up, achieving everything that she set out to do.. to become the woman she is today.. both in the chantry and in society... From a secret past that very few know of...
A fond thought to the Regent.. the father that turned his back on her so long ago... Sebastian, the brother that resentfully followed the lead of her family... Even little Jessica... the child that might have been...
Perhaps these resemblances are the reason for her intense fondness for this city...
And then a thought to Valentine.. her dearest friend.. Another time, another place, they would be lovers.. no doubt at all.. She often wonders what it would be like, to have Valentine by her side for all eternity... her mate.. Not that either of them would use such an informal word... perhaps, her.. partner... No word seems to cover it properly... Not that either of them would even consider being tied to one person, even one as beautiful as either of them are... but the thought is nice sometimes...
It brings her back to thoughts of her dear Nathan...
And in a flash, she's up, with a growl and frusterated swipe of her arms over her desk, knocking everything off.. an Oscar De Larenta original vase... An assortment of various things otherwise.. they fall to the floor in a loud crash, and she turns, storming out of her personal library, locking the door behind her...
Thankfully, dusk has fallen.. A mood like this can only be satiated by one thing... a nice meal.. But this outfit will never do....
ABAETÉ and Choo are the designers tonight... her hunting outfit..
A two piece outfit.. wide cut, high waisted black trousers with brass button details, a blue and white pinstriped button up blouse, cut low, long sleeved, form fitting for the top... and her faithful Jimmy Choo's on her feet.. A pair of heels, of course, with straps around the ankle up to mid calf...
A basic black fedora with a navy blue flower in it is placed on her head, her hair pulled back into a tight pony tail, and she's off on the hunt...
