Ah, finally, she found the library. Already tired from her first day at work, and the stress she was under from said. It was nice to get away, and get her paws dirty with some much needed knowledge. She looks around wanting to make her way to the old, occult books. She realizes that most of it will be worth less then scarab poop, but with every ton if shit you dig through, there is a nugget of gold. She was hoping to find that gold.

This brought back memories of her spending days on end in the library back home. It got so bad that the librarians just handed her a spare key, so she could let herself out. Many nights she would spend there. The need to know would drive her family to force her to away from the books long enough to eat, or sleep. She would almost always find her answers because of this drive.

Somehow she doubted that the librarian would just hand over a spare key for her, but she could spend as much time here as she could.

The library will be open until early in the evening. Hebony should have at least a few hours to peruse the shelves. The building is ancient, likely a civil war relic and the librarians for the most part match.

A pair of grey haired women sit at the front circulaton desks while a few younger men and women flit about behind the scenes and will help if asked.

The main lobby has high vaulted cielings that should remind Hebony of a church. The bulk of the collection is upstairs, organized in the standard Dewey decimal system. The ground floor has only the periodicals, public computers and childrens books.

She notices the stairs. The index, and follows its directions upstairs. Her slippers make very little sound going up the stairs. On the stair well she looks around for the occult section. Upon finding it her heart beats faster as she makes her way to it, and looks through the names of the covers for something like the nugget she's looking for. She fell in love with this place almost instantly. The history she could feel it leaking from the walls.

Hebony will find herself in the 900's. The History section. Occult, to most librarys and bookstores means 'New Age'. Poring over the shelves Hebony will find mostly documentary style books, stuff college kids writing a paper would be all over buts its probably not exactly what she wants.

After a frustrating half hour she will find something odd. A single book missing its back cover titled: 'The Rock of Sanfield.'

The books label says its way out of place and belongs downstairs with the fiction.

This peeks her intrest after getting ready to start scratching things. She pulls out the book and walks over the a table sitting down she opens it up and begins to look through it. She hopes this isn't a waste of time. If this doesn't turn up anything she'll have to ask one of the freaky looking librarians.

The book is old and was published in the 40's. What few pictures it has are black and white. The book begins by dryly laying out a theory of Cherokee earth mounds that were built in northern Georgia around Sanfields current city limits.

The theory involves priest who lived atop the mounds and whenever one died his home would be demolished, a fresh layer of earth layed over him, and a new priest would take up residence on top of the old.

The black and white pictures are aerial photographs that show the mounds in a clear from the air circle formation that apparently lead the author to believe they were built around some forgotten central object.

A final photograph shows an artifact from the mounds. A battered carving that shows what looks like teh sun falling out of the sky. The rest of the book was apparently lost whenever the back cover was torn off leaving anything further unexplained...

This makes her blink. Her curiosity is at its peak. Standing up she walks to a librarian with the book in her hand. Most libraries have another copy of the books in their archives. She just needs to hunt this information down, needing to know more about this relic, and more about these mounds.

"Excuse me. Do you have another copy of this book? Some of it seems to be missing and I would like to know more about this subject"

She fells that burn in her being the speaks that the hunt is on.

The librarian, a skinny woman in her sixties will take the book and punch its numbers harshly into her computer.

'Huh..'

She explaims, and clicks her mouse a few times before setting the half of a book on the counter and looking at Hebony.

'Sorry dear but that book was supposed to have been removed from our collection. We used to have three copies but one was stolen, this one was listed as destroyed and one sold as part of a silent auction about seven years ago.'

She reads off the record on her screen grimly and points at the Authors name: Q. Al-Asmai.

'Says here the author was discredited too. Bad research or something i guess.'

The woman gives an apologetic look and offers:

'Is there anything else i could help you with? We are closing in about a half an hour..'

Q Asmai. intresting.

"Yes, is there a way I might get ahold of the author? I would very much like to talk to them."

This sucks, but what research doesn't have any pitfalls, and set backs.

The librarian leans over the counter and flips open the cover of the book. She runs a finger down the page and finds the publication date.

'You could try contacting the publisher. If hes written anything else in the last sixty years maybe they know where to find him... or, if hes even still alive.'

She nods slowly. Then she looks at the publication. This book is old, then she looks over the publication address. She will have to pay them a visit. This is too interesting to just ignore. Maybe the museum will know something.

"Thank you very much. you have been very helpful. By the way where do I find the Occult section."

[Totally forgot about this thread, sorry.]

'Is there a specific topic your interested in? occult is a very broad, subjective spectrum.'

The old librarian narrows her eyes a bit on Hebony. Maybe shes one of those New agers, or a Wiccan. Either way shes burning in hell as far as this woman is concerned.
