Posted 04/05/2008 07:47:53 PM | | I have a class scheduled today; I let them know to bring some extra things mostly whatever they felt they would need. We are supposed to meet up at the bus stop on Jefferson and Polk. Kind of a rough area, but my students sought me out and they are expecting to learn. One must experience to grow, to learn through true diversity and lessons; practice in a dojo yields nothing if you can not apply it. I show up and there are 6 students, I was expecting a few more but they knew the time, another of life’s lessons don’t be late.
We take the next bus, I speak on the drive about the history of invisibility. It is unreal, a phantom you will forever chase leading to nothing. Ninja attained it by learning to blend with society, prepare, and become the consummate actor. Everyone overlooks someone if they do not stand out, they never suspect the obvious. The bus stops, I get up and the students are confused but follow. We are at one of Sanfield’s many malls, a literal collection of all the flotsam and jetsam of the area.
“The lesson for today is survival. I do not want to see what each of you have brought. They are your choices and you will have to live them, good or ill. If your choices are inadequate, then it might change your perspective for what is needed in life. As for the lesson, John you are first you have two minutes before the entire class and myself enter this mall, and we are hunting you. If we do find you, we will kill you. Everyone will have their go, but for now you are the Samurai hunting the Ninja that just poisoned your child.
Good luck John, you’ll need it,” grinning a bit as I attempt to pat him on the shoulder. He is good though, as he just cleared the door and disappears into the belly of humanity.
“Two minutes, now the hunt begins,” as a half dozen Samurai enter the mall dressed in T-shirts and blue jeans.
