with me, not with the world. So it
was time to try the other thing...

Paige will slip out right after Zaine with a sour look on her face. Shed stay and observe... but after that, its better to let those who can observe shall we say... more discreetly, handle things.

Remember: That which does not kill you was simply not permitted to do so for the purposes of the plot.

She shrugs as Zaine leaves without waiting to hear any answer from her.  His loss, for his own impatience and hot-headedness.  She's not going to play any games with him.  As much as she'd just love to twist him and torment him and make life difficult...it's not worth it.  If he's going to be a child on the matter, so be it.

"I appreciate you standing up for me last night, as much good as it did.  But you only managed to prove me right:  politics is a deadly game the elders pull us through.  And because of it, I have lost the only one who actually mattered to me in this world.  I want none of it."

"I know when I can lay down defeat in a conversation. I can't even try to argue with how politics of this city has royally fucked you. I still think there some good to the system but it mainly just random assortments of good people.  I hope one these days we can have the good not the psychotic and demented causing so much pain and sorrow. ”

She shrugs.  "Seems to me an empty dream.  I merely want to get on with my life, free of the entanglement of these games and intrigues.  The Prince and his toadies have this court in such a state of paranoia and fear that they'll jump at shadows and betray their kind.  I want nothing to do with sects and clans -- they are manipulators and vultures.  Whatever curse God has planned for us, I hope they take the brunt of it.  I am through."

"I said once I say again if you need a hand give me a call because your on a bad side of a sheriff. Who has issues as acting like a child and has so little social grace and I can see him causing problem. On lighter side, it won't be long before he gets what coming by his own stupid ass. I know you want to avoid politics but honestly, I t been doing this a lot longer than you and very hard to stay alive and stay away. Please just try to stay out of too much shit. "

She shrugs.  "When I have need of you, I'll call you.  And right now, I don't have any need.  I have my own plan and my own path.  I'm walking my own road."

Speaking of which...she still had to talk more with Harry about things, explain this all to him.  They'd been rather silent since the previous night, both of them letting the words and events sink in.
