2008-09-14 09:05:35 Hyde rolls 4 dice to Hunting 2,9,1,5 (failure)

Hyde has been prowling his usual haunts in search of prey for the last few nights, moving unseen through the few places in this town that are devoid of electronic surveillance, listening to the conversations of the locals. He has heard many strange tales, but it seems that all of his hunting grounds are as boisterous as beehives, poked with a stick. Disturbingly, there seems to be a common thread.

The train station has been overrun with camera crews, police and even Feds after the report of a bear attacking some people there. Tent City has also been bustling with activity for a few nights, the residents worked up about some wolf-rat and a wolf-man that fought here. The slums seem to have become more dangerous than they ever were before, Haitians moving in, more shootings, people being hacked up. Perhaps it was a bad idea to request less altruism of Reina.

As Hyde moves from derelict region to forgotten hell-hole in his usual hunting circuit, that common thread becomes more clear and he begins to stitch the pieces together as he finds them. Multiple reports of large, hairy, violent monsters. People being slashed with swords... or machetes? The only thing missing is the burnings. Why aren't they burning?

Hyde remembers the trend, the waves of reports from the island of Hoodoo. There was an infestation of Lycanthropy there, not so many years ago. Day after day, one would hear in the news that a mob of angry peasants had located one of them, assailed it with machetes, guns if they had them, and then set fire to the corpse. They made no bones about why they had done it when asked by authorities; the person was an evil Lycanthrope, preying on the locals and had to be put down. There were very few prison sentences ever passed out.

To Hyde, it is painfully clear, the Haitians have brought the Werewolves. It is because of them moving in, vying for turf, bringing in gang-members by the boatload. The shapeshifters must have snuck in with them. But why attack Marlene? Why was Roach involved?

Hyde knows that like much of what goes on in this city, you just have to trace it back to the source, and there are many things in Sanfield which share that source. Hyde will make his way out to the Docks tomorrow night.

2008-09-16 21:13:21 Hyde rolls 4 dice to Hunting 7,10,1,7 (2 successes)

Shortly after rising, Hyde is already re-tracing the mental route through the tunnels he had planned out the night before. It has been a while since he has had need of it. Most of his path is underwater, several miles of large storm-drain emptying right into Sanfeild Harbor and the Docks. There was a time he fed here regularly, when the area bustled with activity, and people no one would miss. The shipping industry has seen many changes in recent years however, and this quickly became a non-viable hunting ground.

Whether through actual cleverness, or sheer desperation, Hyde has come up with a plan. Palming a basketball-sized rock from the bottom of the bay, he then swims toward one of the industrial shipping vessels and plunges the stone through the steel hull, causing the behemoth to take on water, albeit slowly. He knows the ships monitors will quickly detect the breech and the underwater welders kept on all of these ships will be dispatched to handle the problem.

The combination of dark waters, obfuscation, and Hydes strength will ensure that one of them never makes it back to the surface. People used to disappear in this harbor all the time. More divers might be sent out, they may even find a body or two, but it will not be this one. Maybe city officials will even erect a monument in the man's honor; a thin piece of brushed aluminum on a pole, coated with reflective paint which reads: No Swimming.
