General Location: (Sewers, Hovel, Subterranean) While surreptitiously connected to the sewers and thus, the Hovel on its west side through a series of twisted old mining tunnels, one must know which ones to take, and more importantly, how to avoid the traps. Hyde’s personal haven was strategically positioned beneath an old storage-yard for earth-moving machinery, or perhaps the construction firm that owns the equipment had reasons of their own to set-up shop there when it was established several generations ago. Over the years, the business above has slowly evolved from mining iron ore to quarrying bedrock as iron prices plummeted.

Address: Goblin Town is located beneath Svartalfr and Sons Co. Inc. compound,  though the business is located on the outskirts of town.

View from outside: There are a number of small buildings topside, from a dilapidated silver bullet travel-trailer that functions as an office to a larger corrugated sheet-metal-style building that functions as a machine shop for onsite equipment repairs, behind which decays the wheelless carcass of a broken-down 1982 Liebherr T 262 that the firm can no longer afford to maintain. Only Hyde is aware that it’s final resting place is directly above the main support column for his cavern below, and that the cavern itself is just large enough to let the steel behemoth come crashing through should he need to make a desperate exit.

Inside details/Security: The large underground chamber itself, hewn from the natural Elberton granite found in this area contains a fully-functioning forge complete with a very large anvil. Its exhaust system feeding directly into the smoke-stack of the coal-burning rock-crusher that runs constantly above, making various grades of gravel as well as dust for concrete. A pack of possums wanders through the nearby tunnels, relying on the warmth radiating through the rock-walls for comfort in the cooler months. There are numerous low-tech booby-traps in this area, if you survive the trek through the adjoining tunnels, let me know.

A smaller alcove to the northeast of the main chamber is empty but for a very large steel box commanding most of the floor-space, its walls very thick, it must weigh some six-hundred pounds, and it seems to lock from the inside. Off to the side is a computer desk with a broken touch-screen monitor and keyboard thrown in the corner. Embedded in the ceiling of this room is what appears to be a submarine-hatch, leading up to the machine-shop above, covered on the topside by what can only be the massive, rusted remnants of the engine-block from the Liebherr.

There is a small tunnel forming on the south side of the chamber, a couple of snapped wooden handles strewn on the floor next to what appears to be the head of a mining pike or maul, except that it is easily four feet long, a foot wide and six inches thick, far too large to be wielded by your standard miner.

Ghouls/Roomies: Dvalinn Svartalfr (or Dwain as the other employees call him) is the black-haired, wild bearded Norwegian repair man/custodian who lives in the small room connected to the shop above. Most of the other workers know that his grandfather (or was it great-grandfather?), was one of the founders of the company- or something, and while Dwain doesn’t run the place, he does own quite a bit of stock so he is given a great deal of room to do as he pleases. This creates a disparity between he and the other workers and many jokes involving a certain “ugly stick” are made as his expense.

The possums wandering about are also ghouled, though virtually useless for security purposes.

Other: While it is difficult to convey without a map, the Hovel is located beneath Downtown, with most of the personal havens of the Nosferatu being connected to it by various tunnels, though varying in distance from it. Hyde,s is likely the furthest from the Hovel, while Grey’s is likely the nearest.

Nature and History do not agree with our conceptions of good and bad; they define good as that which survives, and bad as that which goes under; and the universe has no prejudice in favor of Christ as against Genghis Khan. -Will and Ariel Durant
