Posted 16/09/2008 08:26:07 PM | | An old run down apartments forgotten by the city but not the peoples. The culture was built over time first it was Hippy commune and the ever slothfulness of the stoner of the classic rock era took over. In the late 70th it was take over by punk squatter who needed a place to called their own. They lasted only until the scene died in the 90th when the grunge kids took their domain. They were replace by the goth in the late 90th. The goth were remove once again by the punk rocker but this group was different breed who could see all subculture in sanfield and how they embrace this shitty run down building. It may just be they were kids of some people who called this place their own back in the day. They could see all these people trying to keep this place alive and they open it up to the masses.
Today the Devil Playground is a mix between the pop culture group but now their a spark of creativity to it. The building now attract underground starving artists and musicians of all types anyone who want create or have a little fun. They have redesign the building with adding of massive rusted gate and Art cars That seem to be crash into the building. The wall are mural done by artists who live their and our constantly changing with the tenets moving in and out. A big mural to Johnny Cash is the only sacred mural. Yea their still some shady activity going around with shit falling of truck and being sold to public and a apartments that have 15 deadbolts, a lot of lights and whole a bunch of plants but that to be expected with lax rules and a cheap space. The building has become a co-op community with studio, practice rooms, industrial kitchen and a bar/coffee house for residents with a stage for music and gallery for art. There a list of unspoken rules that keep this place alive and also the leadership of a charismatic Punk with a green Mohawk who seems to make sure taxes are paid each year. The devil Playground is the heart of the underground in sanfield all our welcome on it ground but to stay you have to be voted in by the current residents. The Playground is ran just like any other artsy co-op in the modern day America.
