Reina nods then, glad he isn't something else with which she would have no idea how to deal.
"You were right, then. We're the same. Or similar, at least. At least cousins if not siblings, you know."

Daniel, still crouching in the soil, stares at the corpse.  "Well, I am a newcomer to this city, and you know of it more than I.  If you would not mind, perhaps you can be my guide to getting myself...comfortable.  I am not sure how long I shall stay here.  Whenever my feet tell me to start wandering, that's when I'll leave.

"But as for the here and now...your final decision on the body?"

((So maybe we can finally wrap this up.  Maybe you could introduce me to the Prince towards the end of the "Personal Jesus" thread?  So I can finally get into a real storyline instead of just hanging out in this thread))

Reina speaks quietly, assuring herself that no one is around who could overhear her.

"Well, you'll have to be introduced to the Prince if you're going to stay for even a little while, things have been a bit Sabbat-ridden lately so he's paranoid. You could go through the sheriff, but he's an ass. Or you could go to your clan's primogen, but if you belong to the one I think you do, I'm the closest thing you've got, and I've got no access to the higher ups."

((in other words, I will definitely introduce you, just "happen" to come by towards the end of the "Personal Jesus" thread))

Reina looks down at the bloody mess that used to be a little girl, then looks back at Daniel. "I think we should bury her, or at least cover her somehow. How about you?"

"That's always the problem of wandering in off the road -- you never know quite where to go, and hope the Sheriff is understanding of strangers.  I thank you kindly for your generosity."

Daniel straightens and brushes his jeans.  "She deserves some king of remembrance, as much as that is clear."  Practicalities have to take precedence over idealism, he finally decides to himself.  He's a newcomer, and he's not about to dictate what should or should not be done in the territory he has no jurisdiction over.  And its unlikely the police would be able to do anything anyway.  No, there's no justice for her.  But when has there ever been justice?  He'd just have to make it for himself, if he ever found that strange individual again.  But that's unlikely.

"Well, you know this place better than I. I take it is your Domain, Miss Reina?"

"Hmm..."
Reina ponders the idea of a memorial... nothing too obvious, not like those little white crosses you find on the roadside when someone's been killed, but...

"I guess we could plant a tree or something, so she could rest in the shade, and so I'd know not to...er..sleep in there. And yeah, this is my Domain, in all of its glory."

She sounds somewhat bitter at this, but resigned.

"A tree would be fine.  I am sure it is more than any of us could hope for," his voice if flat, only a little forlorn as if he is remembering something far, far away.  He looks about the place, as if simply scanning the immediate area will give him a survey of the entire park.

"It is as good a domain as any.  At least for what one would expect in a city.  It is nothing like the open country.  But...

"I do not mean to impose, but would it be acceptable to you if I perhaps bedded myself here, at least for the time being?  Perhaps in the next few nights, when I am better acquainted with this city, I can find someplace else which will not impose on the hospitality of anyone."

"Yeah, it's actually quite a nice park, it's just...kind of a rotating door for other vamps, their favorite place to feed, you know? Kind of problematic when I want some peace and quiet." Reina smiles helplessly.

"You are welcome here, so long as you don't sleep under that tree," she says, pointing out a large and centrally-located oak tree. "That's where I like to take my dirtnaps. You're welcome as long as it takes for you to find someplace safe. The kids around here'll love the dog."
