Tent city has been an angry anthill of activity today. There was an initial panic, with people scattering and nearly trampling one another, screaming about some mutant-dog-monster attacking someone.

Then, of course, there was a banding together of the braver-souls,  a hunting party of sorts, looking for the beast in question. All that was found was an old wino, literally on his last leg. The other one being mauled to the point of uselessness with many pieces of it missing entirely.

Paramedics arrived eventually to cart the man off to county hospital. Animal control scoured the area for some time as well, but came up empty handed. Every time someone sees a rabbit or a squirrel, a new wave of panic ripples through the nearby crowd along with the sound waves of the panicked cry.

The fires will be high and bright this night.

 "So, like I' say'd, it look'd lik a fukin gian wolf wit teeth, blak haired an mean. An no I was a bit drunk, but fuk you know win ye seen somtin dat fukin weerd. I was thinkin bout goin on dat cazy radio stashun. I mean shit, they said day'd pay fer a meal, at leest."

Professor Jenkins was quite the character around tent city. Always around and quite opinionated, he had something to say about damn near everything. No one was sure how he got the name Professor, but thats what everyone called him and he did not argue it. It most likely was a sign of respect, as he did seem to know a lot and offer good advice, but you were sure he was not any sort of professor.

"Well I heerd dat day tore up da wizard dat lived in dat far tent," said Stevie a destitute little street urchin. The proffesor laughed a bit, "Hell no, dat weezard don skeedaddled over ta da docks fer fear a' dat fukin wolf, he knowed it wez commin.."

With proverbial ears perked Whisper will listen intently to the rantings of the people who inhabit Tent City, he hears most everything and takes it all in stride, but this talk of a wolf, and more so a vengeful wolf attacking others, well that doesn't sit well.

Whisper will scan his surroundings, taking it all in, seeing if he can notice anything out of the ordinary that would clue him in as to this "big bad wolf." Seemingly aloof from the others around him he watches, wanting to learn more.

"Hey Professor, what was the last place someone saw this..."wolf""

Whisper will head due east to the far side of the camp, the smells and sights of Tent City, while some say could never be home-like, have at least become somewhat familiar.  Approaching the east side of the camp Whisper will raise his nose to the wind, trying to catch scent of, well, whatever might be out there.  His keen wolfish eyes scan the surroundings for any sight of this "greased lightning."

 Wandering the area you see that this is a very darkened portion of the camp, the smells are dank and sour. This area seems to be inhabited by drug addicts and alcoholics. The people here would be the ones most likely to be taken by surprise having their senses muddled by intoxicants.

One scent does seem to stand out above the rest and pulls you in to investigate. You pass a few more tents before reaching a concrete wall perhaps thirty feet high which lays the boundaries of this side of the camp. You start scanning the wall, following it to see its source. Just as you suspected there lay numerous rusting openings to the cities sewer system. They obviously have been here for some time, most having rusted into oblivion. The openings are large some measuring four to five feet across while others are only a few inches in diameter.

Whisper will lean down searching along the wall, following that strong scent that pulled him here.  Strong smells wern't all that unfamiliar amongst the unwashed of Sanfield, but this, this was something different.

 The stench of the excrement is strong and there are a few of the pipes that reek of the noxious oder, obviously these must lead deeper into the city and still connect to an active sewer area, though the prospects of investigating start looking a bit more daunting.

As you are overlooking them, something catches your eye, a pipe has caught a bit of fur long, black and greasy. A small tuft but something to confirm that these tales are not just a drunks bad memory. By the height of the fur you would guess this thing had to stand at least three feet tall, maybe larger.

Walking over to this ragged grate Whisper will take this tuft of black fur from it's rusty home.  Examining it he will look around to see if he's being watched.  The inhabitants of this area long have since vacated the area Whisper will bend down and using one of the rusty pieces of metal scratch the Garou glyph for "Peace" into a small area just inside the pipe where he found the fur.

Large wolfs were not common, but a wolf of that size may very well be one of Gaia's warriors, and if this creature is it could lead them to more clues as to the wear abouts of the sept that used to call Sanfield home.

A tie then. It still receives a free attack. You cannot counter attack, but you may make a defensive maneuver (dodge, block, etc.)
==============================

As you scrawl your benevolent glyph, you suddenly catch the tell-tale glint of nocturnal eyes just before the foul thing is upon you. From the inky blackness of the tunnel, its elongated, gaping maw, dripping with foul-smelling, yellowish foam  lunges forth seeking your flesh.

(2008-08-26 18:07:09 Dobhar-chu rolls 5 dice to Dex+Brawl 4,2,7,1,1 (failure)[Looks like you won't be needing that Dodge roll after all]

The harsh, artificial light plays havoc on its already poor vision. Audibly clapping shut mere millimeters from your arm, you can feel the heat of its breath  bristle through the hairs on your forearm, the wetness of the foam as it splashes against your skin. As it pulls back, it shakes its head violently, tearing and chewing at the large piece of your jacket that it came away with.

2008-08-26 18:19:24 Dobhar-chu rolls 1 die for Initiative 4 (initiative roll)+5=9 [You know the drill]

2008-08-26 20:56:01 Whisper rolls 1 die for Initiative 10 (initiative roll)  + 5 = 15

2008-08-26 20:59:18 Whisper rolls 6 dice to Reflexive Shift (Crinos) 7,7,10,10,2, 9 (5 successes)

The change to his powerful war form comes as quickly and naturally to him as an inhaled breath.  As Whisper spins on his heels there is no longer the man, but instead a towering 10.5 foot war beast of powerful bearing and pure lineage.

2008-08-26 21:40:14 Whisper rolls 6 dice to dex + brawl (Diff 7, used willpower) 5,5,10,1,9, 6 (2 successes)

Whisper reaches into the tunnel to the....thing chewing on the sleeve of his and tries to use his massive clawed hand to grab hold of whatever has just attacked him.

(Dropping one rage for extra action next round)

(OOC: didn't know the roll for a grab so I just used standard dex + brawl, also didn't know what diff so i increased it to 7, if there is a better system let me know)

{{Not a problem, we can work this as is, with a few adjustments: First off, we are going to go ahead and keep your first roll (the attempted head-shot) because it is the same roll, same stats, with a higher difficulty, and if it had been a crappy roll with a lower diff., I would have made you keep that too. Aside from that, I respect the fact that you pitched a roll that good simply because you thought it wasn't right. So, long story short, you have 5 successes on your attack instead of 2.

Next, just for your own knowledge, and the sake of anyone else reading this that does not know, Dex+Brawl is the correct roll for a 'Grab' attack where the intent is to control the opponent, but not damage. If a Grab is successful, it may be followed by a Bite (also Dex+Brawl) on a subsequent action. A 'Clinch' is a full-body maneuver, like a bear-hug where the intent is to squeeze or crush, this requires a Str+Brawl, and can be followed with a damage roll if successful, but the opponent can either try to escape (Dex+Brawl) or Clinch in return.

So... Because you are only able to blindly shove one gargantuan arm down this hole, it is a Grab instead of a Clinch, so the roll is good. The increased difficulty (7) was assigned because you cannot see what you are doing.

Now, normally, when a Garou spends Rage for an extra action, the action takes place during the same round, on the same initiative (for simplicity of Forum-combat) in this case, because you already have this post up, the Dobhar-chu will react, then you can post your second action, then we will start a new turn (if any).}}
===============================

The stunning speed of Whispers transformation coupled with the sudden added length of his arm give the beastie no time to react, it is caught fast in his  grasp and immediately begins to panic. A rapid series of loud, shrill screeches issue forth, the confines of the tunnel acting like a makeshift bullhorn. The sound will carry far and wide, both out of the tube, and back into it... In between its screams, it tries again to clamp down, desperately trying to get free.

2008-08-26 23:25:34 Dobhar-chu rolls 6 dice to Dex+Brawl(Bite) 5,5,5,6,5, 1 (failure)

It is useless, unable to crane its head far enough around in the tight space it will simply continue to carry on with its fearful shrieking.

Snarling into the face of this beast Whisper will use his brute strength to drag this beast from it's little hole, shrieking or not this is the last day this thing will attack anyone.

Any humans in the area who have seen Whisper in his war form would be cowering in their places unable to move, and while normally such a reaction is good, it simply provides more obstacles during this fight.

(OOC: Child of Gaia Tribe Weakness: Delirium is not as "forceful" as it would be for others, people don't run in fear from me, they just cower)

2008-08-27 08:12:48 Whisper rolls 9 dice to str + ath (drag) 8,4,9,5,5, 5,5,10,8 (4 successes)

Pulling the beast from it's hole Whisper will finally get a good look at it's greasy black, and putrid form, snarling once more and bearing his long canines Whisper will rear back with his other fist and make a direct sweeping punch to the broadest part of the "animal" straight down into concrete.

2008-08-27 08:15:22 Whisper rolls 6 dice to dex + brawl (punch) (used willpower) 10,4,7,4,10, 10 (5 successes)

2008-08-27 08:17:12 Whisper rolls 7 dice to damage 4,2,8,2,10, 5,8 (3 successes)
2008-08-27 09:52:26 Whisper rolls 4 dice to more damage! 9,9,3,1 (1 success) (rolled on Lethargg's request)
(let me know if i'm supposed to add more dice/dmg from the hit roll)
