| Author : | Topic: Security for the shop... | Bottom |
| Artellos Posts : 75 Henk Smit |
(this is a continue from here: http://sanfieldrock.aceboard.com/306090-6339-3780-0-Security-shop.htm ) As Henk comes back to his shop he walks straight to the back. After looking around for an hour he finally finds the plans. "I got to clean this place up" He tells himself. Then phoning Rashid for the security doors. "Hello, Rashid?" He asks. "I found the blueprints!" |

"52 Mercury Road, Downtown" Henk replies. "I'll see you in half an hour then." Henk walks around the store to clean the place up. Placing books back in their bookcases, picking up trash that's left in the reading corner and other random flying around objects, waiting for Rashid to arrive. |

Rah'shid arrives holding a notebook, jotting down the discrïption of the building from the outside, noting various dimentions by sight. ================================================================= Corr 1 2008-08-07 16:31:07 Rah'shid rolls 3 dice to know building dimentions (Diff 4) 3,2,2 (failure) I'll need the exterior's descrïption too. ================================================================= The ammount of people passing by disturb Rah'shid from preforming his task and he is unable preform his task completely. Taking out a laser tapemeasure, he starts to physically take the dimentions of the outside of the building.

Also posted in the descrïption thread The descrïption from the outside. ================================= The outside of the building looks like an old antique house. Like one of them old buildings in an old town. It has an antique feel to it. The door is in the middle and to the left and right are barred to protect the old glass-in-lead. The glass-in-lead at the left side shows an old tome that is opened and turned diagonally towards the door. In the tome is written: "Book Store". On the right side you can see an old parchment scroll that is half scrolled off and turned diagonally towards the door. The scroll also has "Book Store" written on it. |

After examining the building, Rah'shid frowns a little. An old building like this would certainly need to be renovated, as it probably violates several building codes. He marvels for a moment that the building is not yet condemnded before stepping inside to look over the plans to confirm his theory.

Henk sees the look on Rahshid's face. "Is it impossible? Or is it going to be a hard job?" Henk asks doubtfully. "Shall I show you the blueprints? Maybe that'll clear some things up?" Henk looks concerned as he doesn't want his building to be taken out of it's old looking state. The way it looks makes it feel an antique shop. |

"Well, the problem is that the foundation and the walls may be too old and brittle to house the door. Depending on the door, if it opens and closes too much it could cause the structure to collapse." Rah'shid looks over the blueprints and layout of the building. ================================================================= 2008-08-08 13:47:16 Rahshid rolls 7 dice to review prints 5,8,2,3,5, 6,2 (2 successes) ================================================================= He is able to spot a few places where security systems could be placed. He could install a door, but it wouldn't be too much far off from what he had, probably with better locks and a real alarm system. "Well you have few problems in this building. I can install a security system, cameras and alarms, maybe even a new door, but the wiring may be so old it is usesless. Mind if I take a look around?"

"Yes of course. Go ahead." Henk says as he smiles. "I would like a real alarm system and some cameras. At the moment the security is just too weak." Henk takes a look at the walls and looks worried after he heard that the walls might collapse. |

Rah'shid takes the blueprints and looks them over, trying to sense out the building. ================================================================= Matt 1 Corr 1, coincidental D4 2008-08-08 14:55:58 Rahshid rolls 3 dice to sense materials (Diff 4) 9,4,3 (2 successes) ================================================================= Studying the blue prints and walking around, Rah'shid gets a feel for the matierials of the building. The wires are in a fairly decent condition but would need to be replaced in a few years, least they become a fire hazard. The walls on the outside are made of a decent brick, and should be fine for a few years. The place was old and stabe, but was in dire need of a renovation. "I think your building will have no problem with a few cameras and an alarm system. However, I strongly recommend having the building renovated, otherwise you may not pass code in a few years."

"Would the old style be remained? I wouldn't like the building to be modernized. I would like to retain the old style because I.. Because of several reasons." Henk scared himself almost saying something he shouldn't have. "How big of a job would it be to renovate the building?" Henk asks with a concerned voice. |
| Rahshid Posts : 400 Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away - Philip K. Dick ![]() |
Rah'shid chuckles at the question, the man obviously knows much about construction. "Renovation is basically fixing up the building, replacing broken or rotten walls, putting in new wires and such. It is a fairly large project, and the building would still look the same, however it would probably look newer." He looks over the blueprints, marking the best places to put cameras and trip alarms. "Well I think I have seen all I need to see. It shouldn't take more then a week to procure the parts, a day to install. I would say about $5000 for the parts, installation, and customization." From his notebook, he pulls out a form with a list of what would be added. ================================================================= One keypad, Five cameras, Three motion sensors, A pressure sensor, and computer software so he can view the store while not physically being there. ================================================================= He hands the list to Henk. "Is this acceptable?", he reaches in his pocket for a pen to sign the invoice as he speaks to him. --Last edited by Rahshid on 2008-08-08 18:20:37 --

Sean is slightly dressed up for work today, His braided hair is in a jamaican rasta colored hat, hes wearing a black button up shirt and jean shorts. He finishes the out fit with a white clip-on bowtie and flip flops. He rushes into the book store and throws his bag on the counter. "ay ay! whats shakin the bacon Henk?!" He yells as he hugs him. "Im ready for work!" |

Henk laughs as Sean comes into the store. "I'm a little busy Sean, can you maybe take a look at the bookcases at the reading corner? I think I saw some readers not put back the books." Henk then turns back to Rahshid to return to business. "Heh, Happy Employees. Concerning the security, Yes. That's acceptable, Though I expect that I will get quality products. Concerning the Renovation, Do you think they will be able to reproduce the old look for the building even though the walls might be rebuilt?" --Last edited by Artellos on 2008-08-09 14:14:29 -- |

Rah'shid raises an eyebrow at Henk, "If you mean the style, yes. If you mean falling apart no." He takes the form back from Henk, double checking to make sure everything is signed correctly. "Everything looks in order, I will have the system parts in a week, and should take 3 days to install."

Henk laughs at Rahshid's comment. "I actually meant the style" He says happily, knowing the style can be kept if there would be a renovation. "I'm looking forward to seeing you next week then." Henk says and takes the pen to sign. Once everything is signed Henk takes a quick look around if Sean is still working, and yes he is. Doing the work he was asked to do. |

Sean watches out the front windows with bug eyes as a cat walks by, a few seconds later hes walking out the front door Stalking the cat, and talking to himself. "To catch the cat, you must think like the cat....." He purrs to himself and licks his wrist holding his hand like a paw. "now the feline with think of me as a friend and not a threat and let me hold him." Sean reaches down and lifts the furry over weight long haired grey cat. "Whos a good MR. Kitty bonkers? you are, yes you are!" can be heard from all over the street as he walks back into the store with the cat. He walks back over to the reading corner as if nothing is any diffrent adn returns to tending the books while playing with the cat. |
