(Motion Sensors) With the cameras installed, Rah'shid begins work on the motion sensors. In the store he spotted three spots where they would work well, one near the door, one in the back of the store, and one in a little nook where the cameras can't see. Grabbing three small devices our of the truck, he goes back in and starts to install them. ================================================================= Same rolls, just with motion sensors. ----------------------------------------------------------------- 2008-08-13 14:13:46 Rah'shid rolls 7 dice to set up motion sensors 5,7,9,7,7, 4,10 (5 successes) 2008-08-13 14:14:02 Rah'shid rolls 6 dice to install motion sensors 10,7,3,9,5, 3 (3 successes) 2008-08-13 14:14:12 Rah'shid rolls 7 dice to hook up motion sensors 3,3,4,8,2, 6,10 (3 successes) ================================================================= Rah'shid tinkers with the motion sensors a little bit before he installs them, again to check for defects. The process is extremely quick, with the sensors making a high pitch beep with the slightest movement of his hand. Installation goes just as well, it doesn't take him too long to get them up on the ceiling as they are significantly smaller then the cameras. After he places the last ones up, he fishes the wires over to the computer and starts to completing the installation by tying in the motion sensors to the computer. Again, it won't take him too long as the process is fairly smooth. If a bug moves in Henk's store, he'd know.

(Pressure Sensor and Key Pad) The final item on the list was the pressure sensor. This would detect any difference in pressure, such as someone stepping on it. The reason he was installing the pressure sensor was that it was more concealed then the cameras and motion sensors, and much harder to disable or fool. The door and the window were too obvious of places to put the divice, so Rah'shid would place it in the middle of the store, so anyone moving from one end to the other HAD to cross it. ================================================================= Again same rolls, but the keypad is included to keep it short. ----------------------------------------------------------------- 2008-08-13 14:23:55 Rah'shid rolls 7 dice to set up pressure/key 6,4,2,10,10, 9,2 (4 successes) 2008-08-13 14:24:05 Rah'shid rolls 6 dice to install pressure/key 8,9,2,9,8, 2 (4 successes) 2008-08-13 14:24:14 Rah'shid rolls 7 dice to hook up pressure/key 8,7,8,9,8, 6,3 (6 successes) ================================================================= Rah'shid starts by checking both the pressure sensor and the keypad, that would activate and deactivate the system. The equipment works flawlessly as he tests both the pressure sensor for accuracy and the keypad for responsiveness. Removing some boards (whatever the floor is) he places the presure sensor in the center of the room. He drills a little so it is not noticeable, and places a board over it, calibrating the sensor to account for the board. Walking across the board, he notes that the it detects him completley, either by the board being slightly lifted from him standing on the ends, or his weight on the board being counted. He runs a cabel over to the PC, and sets up the pressure sensor to alert Henk when ever there is a noticeable difference in pressure applied to the floor board. Replacing the other boards, he cleans up his mess and begins installing the final piece, the key pad. The entire system is tied into the key pad only to arm or disarm it. It is a success and the keypad works well. Henk of course would need to set up a pass code, as well as speak with the police about tying in his system to theirs, but Rah'shid's work was done. Picking up his things and returning them to his truck, he calls Henk to check on his new system.

Picking up the phone, Henk answers with: "Henk Smit of Smit's Book Store. Can I help you?" When he realizes it is Rahshid he asks: "How did everything go with the security system? Is it all in place?" Henk seems to sound really happy about his new system. "I hope this will catch anyone if they try to steal my books again." Henk grins a bit. |

"Yes, yes, everything is installed and works fine. Would you mind coming down with the check?" Rah'shid prepares the owner's manual for Henk. He didn't think he would read it, but would still be nice to have.

As Henk gets in his car and drives to his shop he is thinking of a way to test the security alarm. Once he arrives at the shop he thinks to be smart and climbs through a window, trying to 'break in'. |

Henk's attempt will be an utter failure. As soon as he climbs in the window in view of the camera, his phone (assuming he has one) will ring with a text message saying someone is in his store. Of course, Rah'shid also gets this message, yelling out to Henk, "Well it works, you'll need to do some set up stuff, but the manual for that is on the desk. If you want the system to alert the police, you would need to contact them. I assume you have the check?"

Henk takes his phone out of his pocket and looks at it. 'Window breeched at Smit's Book Store. "Nice system" He yells back while halfway tumbling down the window. "I guess I'm not the greatest burglar. But yes, I do have the check with me." Henk walks to Rahshid and hands him the check. "There you go. Well earned. This system works well." Henk smiles. "Anything I have to set before I can let this loose on burglars?" |

Rah'shid raises his eyebrow at Henk, having just told him what is next. "Right there on the table. Read that manual," he says in a somewhat stern manner, pointing at the manual he left on the table. "I have to be going, thank you for your business." Rah'shid packs the truck up and drives off to continue on a few errands.

Henk scratches his head a little as the fall hurt. The fall made him so confused for a few seconds that he forgot that Rahshid already told him about the manual. When Rahshid goes off to do his errands Henk grabs his manual and sets the last few things. He then goes and closes the window, shuts off the store and heads off home taking the manual with him. |
