Posted 20/12/2008 08:55:06 PM | | My hate has only grown since that day. It has only precipitated my search more fervently. I know I had heard whisperings, rumors that she was near. Had I not had my contacts with the nest, I would have never found her. She is quite wily and not the best company for sure.
I have been crawling through tunnels and filth for the better part of three days searching the sewers. The spirit world is not much better then crawling through this muck in the land above, it just has more banes. Guess they are there when you are in the other world too, but if you can't see em they can't get ya. They ain't too interested in a Rat anyway. Don't get me wrong though, I'd kill em in a heart beat iff'n any of em took an interest in me or mine. They's likely scared o' the Rat God is all. They see a mighty fine servant hell bent on the task at hand.
I hear a scratchin' up ahead, faint and light. I can almost hear a sobbin' as well. I peek around the corner and she spots me real quick. Can't be foolin' her, hope what they said was true. Otherwise I'll be another notch on the tally board o' our folk. She looks real crazy, her fur all matted and filthy. Guess she gave up groomin' a few centuries ago. She has this look to her eye, like she'd kill ya without a thought. Her teeth are all yellowed and scraggly. She's a wyld one at that, sure as I'm telling you. She keeps her back toward me, her head twisted around to look at me. She knows I ain't her kin, but we ain't enemies either. We both suffered, her more then I, but no use in tallying a score sheet.
I bow with a flourish, my head down out of respect. I hope he was right.
"I come to you great mother with word from above. Dogs have once again come unto the city and seek your blood. I have known their ways as has my people. I can suffer their reign no more. They must be made to pay for their crime against your children..." as I see her eyes gloss in red.
Yeah guess he was right.
