Hangmans Island used to be called Sanfield Point. It once served as a navigational aid for ships bound for the docks. But in this modern age such a thing is really no longer needed.

The lighthouse still stands tall even though it is weathered and abandoned. The story goes that the last lighthouse keeper before the place was shut down Hung himself from the lighthouse top railing rather than go ashore to find new work.

There is still a house attached to the lighthouse structure. It was boarded up decades ago but all the boards never seem to stay in place...

People whisper about seeing lights on the island or hearing voices when they go close to it.

The water around the island is treacherous. Deep in places and deceptively shallow in others. The best way to reach it is by rowboat, but even then you have to battle strange and unpredictable currents that seem like they shouldnt exsist in a lake...

Half the island is shielded with thick trees and every summer there are reports of drownings. Mostly local kids playing ghost hunters on the island...
