Sitting between two run-down buildings, it sticks out with its quaint little steeple and cross at the top, but it is pretty much dwarfed by everything else around it. The outside was previously marred by layers of graffiti and trash, but has recently been cleaned and repainted in white, which lets it stand out more amongst the dreary structures beside it.
Inside, there are more signs of improvements. Some walls and pews have been fixed, windows and candles polished. There are two rows of pews, stained glass windows on both sides, though not much light gets through. The lamps on the high ceiling illuminate the place pretty well at least. At the back, behind the altar and podium is a stained glass window in the shape of the Holy Cross, and at certain times of the day some light does come through at the right angle and light up the brilliant colors. Put up on the walls are symbols of the Holy Trinity, as well as the Lutheran church.
At the left chairs are set up for the choir, and besides that is the organ, which is an old instrument itself, but still plays well. To the right is a door leading to the Pastor’s office and a couple other private rooms.
It has a peaceful air, quite welcoming to those who enter.
