I’ve never particularly enjoyed men.

There’s just something so basic about testosterone’s dual pronged “fuck it or kill it” drive that makes me crazy.  But.. when I’m hungry, it tends to work in my favor.

I’ve been out, walking around the city for a bit now, and I found Waterfront to be one of the quietest places around.  Maybe it’s just the sporadic docking of ships, and shifts of people, but it’s one of the few places in the city where I can hear the water, close my eyes and pretend I’m out in the wilderness, away from all this madness and noise.

Tonight, I’d prefer something warm, and sentient, it gets tiresome wandering about after deer.

I can hear his abrasive guffaw from a few blocks away.  It’s so loud, and course, I can almost see his hulking form. Hairy, simian, a beast hovering close to the surface covered only by a thin veneer of whatever passes for polite society out here in the underbelly of Sanfield.

I slow my walk down and don’t look up at the  group as I pass them.  The laugh, coming from a man, easily 3 inches taller than the rest, predictably stops as I draw near.  As does the work.
And then, a whistle, low at first and then louder.. I’ve never understood why they call it a wolf whistle.  Wolves don’t express their appreciation for a female by mocking her.. they prove themselves, they work to be worthy of her time, and then they subject themselves to her leisure. Of course, there’s the obvious difference of mating for procreation and for recreation.. but still... the sneer in his voice makes me edgy.

With a slow turn, careful to keep my hair covering the bulk of my face, I’ll glance back at him and then keep on walking, relying on the urging of his buddies and his elevated sense of manliness to ensure that he’ll follow.

[Hel rolls 5 dice to smiting a sailor 2,2,4,4,5 (failure)]

Unfortunately it’s apparently not pressing enough an urge for him to risk leaving his work are, and I’m left seething silently as I walk away.   With a sigh, I’ll head for the woods, deer don’t taste very good, but they’re easier to catch.

"Seems like I've been here before, seems so familiar, seems like I'm slipping into a dream within a dream."
